Bill
I think this site is really great - obviously getting content together is a time consuming business and although the main site has some good stuff, maybe it's dried up a little? Not a criticism, just an observation.
Anyway, having just replied to a reply to my reply by Paul <inhale>.....</inhale> I was just thinking about the wealth of silly, pointless, boring, stimulating (you get the idea) information available inside people's heads that has some value and is worth documenting. I wondered whether it would be worth setting up development blogs/memoires based on a platform/game basis that would allow the original dev guys to contribute and maybe give a rounded picture of the pain that went into making some of our favorite games? I know there us stuff on these forums and in other places but a) forums aren't ideal for journal-type stuff and b) looking in one place for content contributed by the "people in the trenches" is way more valuable than retro articles/interviews, in my opinion.
Also, it really would make things much easier for folks to find information about their favorite games/developers/development managers!
Any thoughts?
cheers, sem

Sounds like a good idea - i'm just wondering if people's memories are that good...

Hi Bill. Maybe run a trial on the forum for a couple of games - could threads be locked only to ocean staff? If it proved successful then it the content could be ported to some other CMS-type thing? I'm sure people's memories would be triggered by an organic, yet focused thread - may even surprise themselves! Besides, if an interview with Mr Butler about Total Recall is anything to go by, jogging memories wouldn't be a problem cheers, sem
