Hi,
Just had to join this forum, spent last few hours reading it and my god the memories of the Ocean games came flooding back (with a tear in my eye)
Having owned a ZX Spectrum (in its many forms) and spent all my odd job money on games, a lot if not a vast % of which was Ocean creations (loved Great Escape and Time Stood Still on the 128) its great to read the stories on here about the whole package of OCEAN from its programmers (always dreamed of doing that, even spent hours making programs/games on the Speccy in basic and machine code (learnt from Melbourne Houses 2 books ) on how it all started and what happened and how things was done, I always hada vision of people messing about all day just knocking games out having a laugh.
After falling out of the 8 bit loop (could never afford a 16 bit ST or Amiga straight away) lost track of the gaming world until the arrival of the Playstation and with the vast world wide web at the fingertips (after finding all my Speccy stuff in the loft when clearing my parents house) decided to look Ocean up on the Net and WOW! found this forum and my god I am hooked (feels like the old days)
Can never forget OCEAN games, always a leader in my gaming world of the time, some of my memories are...
Platoon with the big box, Smokey Robinson song on the seperate tape and all the 'gifts'
Wheel Of Fortune where Ocean gave the contestants a chance to win a Typhoon home arcade in a briefcase (I wanted that so much!!!)
All the 'big' film games Ocean seem to give us, Robocop (did it have a bug on the 128k version to stop you completing it?), Batman, Untouchables, Rambo (how hard was it to fly the chopper!!!) etc etc
The arcade conversions of Operation Wolf and Afterburner stick in my mind too
Many thanks for the memories and I keep reading this forum, top site!
