Bill'd added another page to my photo section (plus another page of cartoons) on the website. In it there's some old Ocean memos (god knows why I kept them!) but one of them reads as follows:
"6th February 1987.
to: General office cc. Gary Bracey
From: Colin Stokes
Subject: German TV Visitation.
We will paying host to a German TV company Monday and Tuesday next week. Please ensure all areas are tidy.
Colin Stokes"
Did they turn up? Anyone who was there remember them coming? I don't. Wonder if there's some more film floating around.

Hmm, would be very interesting to know who it was, and if anything survived from this visit.

I would take that deafening silence as a no then!
Maybe it was just a ruse to make us tidy up?

Stokesey typed up a memo though! It was NEVER that bad down there! BTW next time I go to town I'm going to see if I can go back down in the dungeons at 6 Central Street. See if they'll let me take some pics of how it all looks now. Last time I went it was full of little bric a brac shops!

I remember why they were there.
There was a German, Neon, dev team who created Tunnel B1 on the PSX, then coverted it to run on the PC and Saturn. They were there filming in Production and in Testing. SO if you want to see the film you might have to search teh German TV film archives...
We tested that 7 days on a shift bases of 12-15 hours, cause the it had to on time....

I actually wound up working in Hamburg and found that my graphics manager, some 10 or more years younger than me I hasten to add was indeed one of the guys who came across as art of neon to work on that less-than-amazing title Tunnel B1.
Small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

No takers yet after all this time Mark? OK I'll have a go - fashionably late to the site ;D
Yes there was definitely a german TV crew filming down there in 1987 w/ beta-format cameras, they interviewed me for quite a while in my "custom-built sound studio" (rolls eyes) and I demonstrated C64 Short Circuit music in-progress while speaking English so not sure how useful it was to them. Not sure who else they talked to. IIRC it was early in the year
(oh, now I see Feb 6th on the memo)
I would love to see that footage. But, I recall folks at Ocean later saying they were "not sure it was screened in Germany..." and perhaps the tapes have been thrown away? Who knows.

Greetings Mr Galways and Hello to Joff if he indeed remembers me.
Yup this place gets very empty at times. Infact it's a mere shadow of the site it was when it started.
The novelty has worn off and people who were originally excited about coming into contact with old acquaintances finally realised they were just that, acquaintances.
They had a few stories to swap and then once they were gone there's sweet bugger-all to talk about. No-one really wants to hear about other people's kids or their families so the conversations dried up.
There's precious little of any great importance happening in the industry these days for the few of us that are still in it so for the most part the only thing you get here is the occasional tumbleweed rolling through and a birthday announcement every now and then.
Sad really? But what can you expect? Ocean was a pretty short period in all our lives when you look at the big picture and far more has happened since than ever happened while we were there.
anyhoo...that's my ten pennorth. I check in pretty regular really, just on the off-chance that someone has dropped in and left a little note of some interest.
Take it easy guys and don't be total strangers.
