Anyone fool enough to have this fitted to their car?
Remember one morning being stuck at home cos it had totally killed my car.
Whatever happened to that thing?

Jon, That's got to be one of the funniest things I've read for some time!! Firstly, I had no idea you were a beta tester for DCs invention (were you DRUNK? ). ;D Secondly, it sounds to me like it did what it said on the box - immobilised your f*cking car! ;D ;D Did it ever go into mass-production? I have this image of millions of cars stationary on the motorways, all bearing 'Fitted with Colliers Immobilser Chip' stickers on their windscreens.

...he also did some sort of heart monitor gadget that ran on the C64 with the main character from HyperSports sprite doing his "failed" animation to pace you.

Yes, in conjunction with the immobiliser. The morgue was kept pretty busy.

Yes it does seem like a foolish decision now, but hell I was worried that someone was going to nick my Peugeot 309 GTi. !

Oh the folly Jonathan! Who could possibly have guessed that would happen?
I remember when he first brought the thing in. Me and John Brandwood were laughing hyana-like at the very notion of having this very rough looking circuit board and connector between you and the ignition system of the car.
Perhaps you were lulled into a false sense of security by that amazing arcade board system he devised. Or the precise engineering of the C64 cart . . .

Don't feel alone in your foolishness Jonathan... I too had it installed in my car and it worked a treat... Most of the time I disabled it and sold the car never to be troubled by it again.

Blimey! The infamous Ocean Arcade Machine - how time and money did they spend on that.
IIRC he was designing it on the first 386 PC outside of Intel.
...and then there was that Data East Arcade board with Dr Manhattan walking across a scrolling background.
Oh, the folly !

Hey Jon, No - I never had to worry about anyone stealing my brown Allegro It was the Cavalier 2.0GT (or something like it) that I had the immobiliser installed in.
