I loved his graphics for the Amiga and ST. Sometimes his graphics were too good for the games.. like in Rubicon or TotalRecall 16 bits version.
Do you think he will appear in this forum??

Who knows. His website is here: users.erols.com/mjonesgraphics/Dragonseyrie/But don't bother e-mailing him at the address given. I've tried twice and it just comes back as no such address. Would be good to hear from him. We lived together for a good 6 months cos he started at 'Ocean' a month before me so we both were looking for someone to call 'ome at the same time!

I seem to recall that "Mark", if that is indeed his real name, was all pally with Keith Chegwin. In fact, I've heard that "Cheggers", if that is indeed his real name, wants to interview Mark again. Of course, Cheggers Plays Pop wants to interview him nude, just like the show he hosted on Channel Five, just before the softcore porny film came on.

Don't get yourself so wound up Mark.
There were, maybe still are 5 Simon Butlers in the industry.
There was me, and then there was the guy who worked in the warehouse who borrowed the Ocean van and smashed someone's motor. Ah, the happy day when Gary came waving a solicitors letter at me saying "go on then smartarse (or words to that effect)...talk your way out of that one."
The fact that I didn't drive and to this day remain a dyed-in-the-wool pedestrian was my saving grace.
(Got to admit...I would have jumped to the same conclusion myself..but it was funny...ah the humble pie must have been particularly tasty that day.)
Then there was a guy who worked for MicroProse.
And a fourth somewhere.
But the fifth is the most interesting. Apparently he worked for Psygnosis at one time. He was a coked-up code stealing rascal who was also a tad light in his shoes and spent what time he had between snorting his brains out and thieving from his workmates pc's in following his male co-workers into the gents for some unwanted physical contact.
For many a year I carried his reputation around with me...and doors would close before they'd fully opened.
Put that together with the fact that there was a lot of mud-slinging going on from certain parties after I'd left Ocean and it was less than a picnic at times.
Simon Gardiner...fat bastard that he is...he must have heard some of this or put two and two together and made nine...which probably accounts for his less than stellar progression through the games industry.
He snatched a job away without even having the balls to speak to me personally...hiding behind his secretary. She must have been enormous to conceal that tub of lard.

and the YourSinclair cover game RoadRace ?? Ah that WAS me but not the whole icky thing. On my FIRST day at 'Ocean' Gary asked me to rename the game to 'RoadRace' and write 'An Easter Gift From Ocean' on it. So all I did was a bit on the loading screen. That's how it ended up with a credit to me on it (WOS?) I presume it was an arcade conversion that REALLY didn't come up to scratch so the company decided to give it away. Can't remember what it was originally called though.
