Its me again ;D
Does this game ring any bells?
< description from magazine > SHYLOCK, MERCHANT OF VENICE 1989 Ocean
A maze game with the characters chased by a pound of flesh. Mark Wilson (MW20) created music for the game, featured in a music demo.

I bet it was in an April issue....... Published on the 1st of that month, perhaps?
I do remember that that Shakespeare fellow was a bugger to negotiate the license with - a real Prima Donna!

I wish it was, but sadly it was November, issue 55 of Zzap 64... "'Kings of comedy' - Ocean director Gary Bracey announces SHYLOCK, MERCHANT OF VENICE."... then the rest of the blurb above.

Yeah, I remember now - it was in a job lot of licenses with 'Rainman'. Great game design - you had 5 seconds to count the matchsticks on the floor. Trouble was, we didn't have any artists who could draw the matchsticks right.
Sorry, it sounds like the whole thing was a wind-up. More, I think, a fabrication of Zzap's than mine (which means it was probably Gary Penn, Ciaran Brennan or Garry Liddon).

Hadn't ZZAP! lost its sense of humour by that point (it would have been in the Stu Wynne period, I think?).

Thanks Gary.. i'll ammend it to say it was a practical joke of somekind. Some of the Zzap guys are still around, so i'll question them about it

Ah...ZZap and Crash...
The tales that abounded about the boys who worked for the Freys.
Now there's gossip for you....but that's one we will definitely leave to the archives.

"I'm not the only Gay in the Village" is about the best hint I should imagine.
Somone over at RLLMUK Forums found some very suspect paintings of boys by Ollie Frey a while back.

Ye Gods and little fishes! All very Tom of Finland and no mistake.... makes this particular cover of Zzap64 all the more worrying... www.zzap64.co.uk/zzapcovers/i21jan87.jpgespecially as there is an article inside with me in it... I feel sullied...and not in a fun spanky way.

I actually own 4 framed (original artwork) covers from ZZap! which I picked up at an industry auction a few years ago. I'm thinking of donating a pair for charity... maybe to be auctioned at this CGEUK thing in September....? ? ?

I thought it was common knowledge that Oli was gay? Or is that fact actually "rumour"
