Hello, I was wondering how much did 8-bit games on tape cost in the UK back in the 80s. I've read somewhere in the net that tapes which would go for about 2 quid in Spain could cost 20 back in UK. I think that's just plain wrong, 20 pounds is too much for a darn tape. Prices in Spain would be usually (if anybody is interested): old games 395ptas or £1.50 budget games (codemasters ) 495 ptas or £2.00 new games 875 ptas or £3.50 new games carboard box 1200 ptas or £5 At some point in the 90's or end of 80's games started being released big cardboard boxes instead of the old cassete jewelcase and at a higher price, I never understood why. Did the same happen in the UK? By the way how much would the spectrum 48k cost? and an Amstrad CPC 464 colour? I know these questions are a bit fucked up but am feeling curious today. Regards

If you go to the main website page and click on 'pics' then click on 'the vault' there are some images of some old cassette releases with the prices in pounds. The prices varied from £7.99 to £9.99.

Back when I first got a C64 at the end of the 1980's, I think budget games were £2.99, they went up to £3.99 a while later, which was annoying as it took an extra week's pocket money to buy one The rubber keyed ZXSpectrum 48k was £125 originally, CPC464 with a colour monitor was (I think) £359. Both of them went down in price before too long.
