I have recently picked up a new copy of this game to replace the one I had long ago and lost. My original copy was on floppies while this is on CD. Now, here's the problem: when I try to install the game on my machine (XP Pro with all patches), it seems to go fine at first but then errors out with the message of "File C:\TFX\tfx.dat has incorrect checksum" How do I get around this error? Is there a patch for the CD or something that is necessary or do I need to take this CD to my old DOS 6.22 machine and run it there or does anyone have a clue?
I doubt that DOSBox would have anything to do with the situation since it is the file that is trying to be expanded during installation that is coming up with an error, not a problem while playing the game. If the problem were going to be caused by a DOSBox type of issue, I would expect the installation not to run at all rather than error out on the one file as having an incorrect checksum.
