Did any of you programmers ever get really p****d off with any particular reviews of your games? Or (on the opposite end) were you amazed that you got a good review when it maybe didn't deserve one?

I won't go on again but I was amazed that 'Wizball' got such good reviews on the Spectrum. There was so much that I did that was left out and it pales in comparison to the C64 version which is still TO THIS DAY a fantastic, addictive and truly playable game. It hasn't lost any of the qualites it had when it was released ONE JOT! I know cos I tried it on an emulator not too long ago and was engrossed for HOURS!
Well done to Gary for spotting it's potential and seeing it through. One of the best games ever IMO!

Yup! Mag Max - utterly, utterly, utterly shite beyond belief - trying to emulate an aracde machine that had each one of its 200 scan lines running at a different parallax speed. I was (and still am - can you tell?) massively embarassed by it (Si's graphics were excellent - the code was absolute utter poo) and for some unknown reason Commodore User gave it 90%. Unbelievable! I apologise in advance if anyone bought this game and was traumatised by it.

The EMAP computer mags (CU, C&VG, SU) gave some weirdly high marks to certain games. I have my suspicions that they were wined and dined..(though not necessarily by Ocean, of course!).

That T'zer lass at 'Your Sinclair' had a soft spot for Gary Bracey!
