Interesting things can be found in code, and in the code for the Speccy version of The Addams Family you come across these phrases:
CAR THIEVES AND BURGLARS, WHO ARE THE SCUM OF THIS EARTH, SHOULD ALL BE HANGED
WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS... HOW DO THE SCUM MANAGE TO STEAL CARS AND ROB HOUSES WHEN THEY HAVEN'T GOT A BRAIN??
THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR CRIME
IF SOMEONE BREAKS INTO YOUR HOUSE OR TRIES TO STEAL YOUR CAR, YOU SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO SHOOT THEM DEAD, AS THEY ARE NO MORE USE TO SOCIETY THAN A RABID DOG
I PAY TAXES TO STOP SCUM DYING IN THE STREETS AND THEY COME ROUND AND STEAL ALL MY POSSESSIONS..... NOW THERE'S GRATITUDE FOR YOU
THE SCUM ARE TRYING TO BRING THIS COUNTRY DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL OF DEPRAVITY....... PLEASE DON'T LET THEM SUCCEED
Be interesting to find out how the game managed to get out in this form.

If a coder hides a message in his game how the hell would Gary have known? Let alone any one else.
Don't be silly

Be interesting to find out how the game managed to get out in this form. Anyone can put any hidden message they please into a game. AFAIK games don't even have to be put forward to the BBFC (in the UK) for rating if they don't want to anyway. Hell, DMA Design used the BBFC to their advantage by getting it rated when GTA first came under fire from the press. But they didn't HAVE to do that. Hmmm, I seemed to go off on a tangent there a little!

You gotta remember this was a l-o-n-g time ago (in game terms), the industry had just moved out of the bedroom; there was no BBFC/ESRB to rate games, there were no console manufacturers (with the exception of Nintendo) that dissasembled the game images or demanded the games' symbol table for analysis. You had to rely on the (generally) coders - (although artists did hide stuff in the art assets - eh mark ), to not put anything into the data that could be deemed explicit or offensive. Sometimes this stuff got through. In the late eighties, early nineties Ocean were putting out product at a rate of knots, and you couldn't really expect Gary or whoever to be sitting there trawling through a hex dump of every gold master.

Wow, I must have missed that one! Still, it doesn't look like there were any spelling mistakes, so no harm done then.

thats unexcusable.. some 8 years kid could have dissasembled the game with his spectrum, and look at the code..
hahah,.. boys of the year of AddamsFamily didnt knew neither play with q,a,o,p & space .. how are going to be able to look at the code. Im 27 and I find it impossible.

unexcusable?
UNEXCUSABLE?
As Ralph Wiggum once said "Me fail English? That's Unpossible..."
I do hope this thread was tongue in cheek because to hope to make a serious point with bad grammar...it's just ...inexcusable.
(And who sits going through someone else's code for Pete's sake? Good Grief!!)

(And who sits going through someone else's code for Pete's sake? Good Grief!!) Tut Tut. That was poor english!!! Shouldn't it be: "And who sits THERE, going though someone else's code for Pete's sake?".

Hehe.. but i must admit that its quite funny to search through the code and finding some seeekret messages.. but (crap here comes my gramma!) then it must be a very rainy period or something to blame it on

Some other Ocean titles where the programmers had a bit of fun! Cabal "celui qui crack Cabal est un ANE...!" Translation - "Whoever cracks Cabal is a FOOL...!" Jurassic Park AGA: "CRACK THIS GAME AND YOU DIE!!!!!!! I AM NOT KIDDING!! I KNOW WHO YOU ALL ARE!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!" Navy Seals: "Crackers Nightmare :-( Assembled on 19/6/1991 at 12:26:19" Lost Patrol: LOST PATROL LOADER (AMIGA) By Captain Sime >> 16.05.90 << "Abandon Hope Ye Who Hack Thee." Think about the future! F-29 Retaliator QTX, where are you now? Parasol Stars Well, bugger me! I spent hours on that encryption routine and you go and crack it in no time at all. Well, I hope you enjoyed it as there are about a thousand more levels to go, all of the different and that was the easiest ELF from Ocean Well, well, well. What can I write in this sector ? I could tell you nosy sods to bugger off. Hmmm, OK then ... BUGGER OFF YOU NOSY SODS !!!!!!!! Copy this disk and your knob will fall off. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Don't come running to me with your meat and two veg ! I was only joking - honest .... BYE BYE. See you on the next game and this other message in the begining of each sector: WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT PAL ?

I still sneak my name or something personal into nearly all my games graphics..
my most blatant sneak was a huge YMO 242 on a ship on untouchables SNES because I was listening to a lot of YMO and front 242 at the time.. most of my other "tags" are a lot more subtle nowadays...
