Right.
We've all waffled on about Ocean and how wonderful they were or weren't depending on your point of view.
But how about games in general.
Everyone must have a list somewhere at the back of their minds that gets dragged out on sites like this or in the pub when you start swapping memories with crusty old curmudgeons like myself.
So I'll start the ball rolling.
I'm not going in any chronological order...I'm just, periodically going to mention games I liked/loved or loathed as they come to mind.
Knight Lore.
A classic. not the first isometric title by a long chalk but one that certainly stole the iso-crown and possibly held it against all comers, including the challengers from the Ocean stable Head and Heels...and possibly even Batman.
While Head Over Heels was a superb title, Knight Lore with it's minimal graphics holds a very special place for me. It commanded a huge chunk of my evenings at the time and although I came damn close I never actually managed to complete it, which is probably for the best, because maybe I would have been disappointed with the conclusion.
I certainly was with Sacred Armour of Antiriad, another favourite.
But anyway.
Ultimate. What a fine establishment they were at the time. I have no such feelings for their polygonal incarnation and have never warmed to any of their 3D titles. Donkey Kong gave me the screaming shudders and Banjo Kazooie et al just left me cold.
Knight Lore, Alien 8 though...as a Spectrum fan, these were far from perfect due to the inherent problems that the iso-view always caused...but they kept me coming back for more.
Happy days.
Ok who's next?
