Was Ocean Software in financial trouble when the merger/buyout with Infogrames took place? From my point of view, it seemed very out of the blue.

Yeah what did happen to Ocean at the end? I wasn't there at the time and have always wondered what went wrong. I hear they were bought out by Infogrames who then shut the label down. Why?

if i'm not mistaken, infogrames initial moves were to acquire companies, strip them of their assets and move on to the next.....

I got the feeling they just bought companies up to close them down and thus remove the opposition

No one seems to have any ideas, the only people who probably will know is David and Jon and neither of them seem interested in talking.
Needlees to say, makes it had to write a definitive article on the history of one of the UK's major software companies. It's quite scary though the amount of copies who don't have access to their own material. We printed an advert in a recent issue of the mag and the company who's game it was asked us if they could send it to Japan, because they didn't have a copy of the poster in question. How crazy is that?

So does no one REALLY know what happened? Or is it just a case of no one dare say so? I had a GREAT job at Ocean, I spent my last teenage years there and met some fantastic people who I'll never ever forget.
Why is it no more?
Why did Infogrames buy Ocean? Why was it put up for sale?
If no one wants to speak on the message board then an email explaining to me what happened would be greatly appreciated.
