Hi, I stumbled across your site while doing some research for my PhD, and thought I'd join up and say hi.
So what particular PhD subject could legitimately bring me here you may ask?
Well actually I'm doing a history of microcomputing in 1980's Britain, not just the computers themselves but the cultural issues and the other bits that go with them. This includes how people used computers, how they see them, and of course, things like the games industry... Ocean, being located, like myself, in sunny Manchester seemed a good place to start.
As such I'd really like to get in contact with anyone who worked at Ocean in the 1980's to get an idea of what it was like working in the games industry in this period. So if any of you wouldn't mind helping me out, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
I'm also interested with anyone else out there who has any other memories of 1980's computing, as I'm trying to build up a picture of what computers meant to different people.
Nice site by the way, it's good to see something a bit different to alot of the other retro sites, and the video section was really interesting.
Cheers,
Tom

Well I was a 'computer nerd' in the 80s. As well as having a Speccy while at school (copying games, buying Crash, being a geek) my first proper job was at Ocean so if I can help i will. I'm also in Manchester.
