Blimey - the memories came flooding back. I'd totally forgotten about Simon's infamous memo about Mr Ownes Owens' version of Vindicator.
"Basically Horrid" was an understatement - the memo worked though - the final product was a billion times better than the flickering, occasional collision detecting, random animation that was his first version.
That was his last game wasn't it?

...he went on to be, ahem, shirt and tie wearing office manager at the Ocean console dev building (Lancashire House).
Which reminds me - he did write some software post GB2 - he wrote some code to analyse the data from the key entry system to work out how many hours people had worked... of course it didn't work (and most likely flickered!) ;D

IIRC because 'Konami' wanted too much money for them to use it. (It was 'Konami' wasn't it?)
