I've been looking at all five Rocky films now that I've been sick, and I started wondering why there came no Rocky game on the C64. Can you guys tell me if Ocean was planning to do a Rocky game or if you know any other company that had that idea.

It was never our intention to do a Rocky game. In those days, the only movie-related games we made were current ones. Retrospective licenses, such as the Rocky series, became popular later on. Note that The Great Escape wasn't actually a license.
Note that Special Fx, who became Rage, developed and published a Rocky game, about 6 or 7 years ago I think.

Actually Gary, Rage did the Rocky games about 3 years ago, and had my company Virtucraft, producing the GBA version, they were on the slide by then though having invested a lot of moolah in that god awful Beckam fotty game and the Rocky games didn't really do much either, a blatent attempt to cash in on the short lived boxing game craze started by Ready to Rumble...shame.

I dunno... didn't Rage Newcastle "turn into" Venom Games and do (finish off) Rocky and then the sequel Rocky Legends? According to charttrack they certainly did some serious units - dunno about the pre-venom era though.
Ugh! Beckham Soccer - I'd wiped that from my mind. Eeee-yooo! ;D

Didn't a Spanish developer do a game called 'Rocky' once? Then cos of copyright they had to change to the game to 'Rocco'.

Sorry Brian, I stand corrected. Just seems like 7 years ago!
Mark, your memory is correct (and better than mine!). The game, 'Rocky' was released in Spain by Dinamic, although this had nothing at all to do with the movie.

No but it was obviously made to cash in on the film, but without getting permission, the naughty tinkers! Wasn't it realsed by 'Gremlin Graphics' here? I could check but I can't be bothered!

Still, Rocky 4 was released in 1985 and Rocky 5 in 1990. Would have been great to be able to beat the crap out of Ivan Drago. What about these questions? oceanexp.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=games&action=display&thread=1110485283Thanks, Andreas
