Hi. I think it's documented that John Meegan didn't like Rastan - but I've just found on C64 Game endings the "reward" screen to the game here www.c64endings.freeolamail.com/endings/r/rastan/rastan.htmAny chance someone can shed some light on it please? I guess it's a reference to Joff's Cobra scroll on the spectrum? sem. p.s. It's been two weeks and there's still no sign of what's coming soon and Gary said 'soon' was always 2 weeks

LOL! Nice one Johhny!
I guess that refers to a rather infamous interview that Paul Owens did with a spectrum magazine ('think it was Sinclair User) wherein he claimed that he developed the "cobra scroll". This, of course, was utter baloney as it was all Joffa's handy work (and jolly clever it was too). Owens claimed, sheepishly, that he had been misquoted, however the journalist was adamant that he claimed that it was he and not Joff that came up with the scrolling method and Joff merely used his code in Cobra.
What was funny is that whilst Paul was developing Gryzor on the spectrum he spent days disassembling Cobra to work out how it was done!

Ahhh superb. Thanks for that Paul. Probably the finest ending to a game ever.
Ok - so apart from Operation Thunderbolt, any other '64 games you had to perform last minute surgery on?
cheers, sem.

Just to clarify, it was me who coded the Cobra scroll. Just ask Joffa. Oh, and I wrote Rastan (all formats), plus did all the artwork singlehandedly. Finally, despite what Mr Hughes claims, I did ALL of Ocean's loaders (including the music). Hope this clears up any doubts.

Dang! I've been rumbled.
Okay, I'll spill the beans - Martin Galway didn't exist; it was Gary all along. Can't believe people fell for it. Gary did some wicked pitch bends on Rambo II ;o)
