Now THIS is totally serious.
There's enough people on this site with enough industry savvy and technical/creative know-how for us to put together at least one game.
Something that we sell over the internet...or maybe a mobile title or two.
Well?

Just a suggestion, but why not make a new Spectrum game? I'm sure www.cronosoft.co.uk would be more than interested in publishing it... Yes, Speccy games are still being published in 2005.

Now that would be interesting! Retro Gamer would love to have a large section on that!
"The Old School Ocean employees of yesteryear join forces again one more time to write the game they always wanted to on the Speccy..." etc...
You would get MAJOR coverage from them with that!

Why don't we have like a sideways scroller shooter thing, then the next bit could be a 3d like maze thing and after that we could have a vertical scroller type thing. Then find the name of some film that's coming out soon and call it that?
Hello?...... Where's everyone gone?......(tumbleweed).............. ;D

It would have to have a sliding block puzzle and plenty of crates in the scolling levels.

So whats happening with this? A new game by a team of ex Ocean coders would get a lot of coverage in the press.

Well, what's the verdict on this and who'd be in charge of the cash if it was sold???
If it was written by Mike, James or Jobbeee (wherever he is) it would get a LOT of coverage.

How about raising some money for the development of this site or, for a charity?

Why for a charity?
I'm no Ebeneezer Scrooge but...why a charity I say again?
The world and his wife have got their pants in a bunch over this tsunami deal...
oh dear lots of people died.
Now don't get me wrong...it WAS a terrible tragedy...but no worse than the countless thousands that die every single day from starvation, malnutrition, aids etc...and the world conveniently ignores them...but get a tragedy on the boob tube and everyone develops a conscience.
Nah...not for charity.
Charity begins at home.
Anyhoo...a piece in MCV or the EDGE would generate interest...

Well it was just a suggestion. Strider who visits here runs the Retro section of gamesTM, so he would give you all coverage, as would Retro Gamer I should imagine.

I would've thought a collection a little games done in your spare time would be enough (just like what people do at Retrospec).
Even if your don't charge for it, it would make HUGE waves in the Retro scene. Retro Gamer would go apeshit over it, wanting no doubt interviews and all (they're getting quite popular over in the US now).
And, well, just keep it fun! There's no need to go crazy over it all! ;D

This sounds superb!
Perhaps set up an online donation form so visitors can donate to the development of this title.
I'm with Simon on being against the charity side of things. I do a lot of fundraising as part of the Rotary charity, and I'd quite like for once not to donate my money to a third world country.
These donations we make could go towards some dev kit and money towards some ads and coverart etc.
